SMILIN' IN SEPTEMBER - 2020

The beginning of September started normal... playing in the pool with friends, working with Mom, arts & crafts & long walks with our doggo, Diesel.

Distance Learning has its ups & downs, for sure.  An upside is that the Twins get to do their school work while going with me to work.  A downside is that the Twins get to do their school work while going with me to work.  Joking aside... Jett & Delilah amaze me every day with their work ethic!
For my 52nd birthday we took our annual camping trip to Fredericksburg with the Strottner's. There's so much for the kiddos to do there PLUS there are plenty of wineries to visit.  We pre-ordered a yummy dinner to take & bake and then I ordered a delicious Friendship pie from one of my favorite Bakers, Jen Bates. On the day that we went to the wineries, Clarence, Milo, Brisa, Jen Starr & her friend Matt joined us.  It was hot weekend but such fun!
September 11th is an important day in our home.  We always commemorate the day in some form or fashion.  This year, I ordered an outfit for Delilah and a shirt for Jett showing our love & gratitude to our first responders, our flag & our country.
Due to the pandemic we thought it best to not have a huge birthday party to celebrate Jett & Delilah turning 10 years old. But, with it being such an important milestone (& such a very important day in our lives) we decided to take the birthday celebration on the road.  We went camping & asked a few close friends to join us, if even for the day.  Of course, the Strottner's were there for the whole weekend; the Carter's stayed for a night; & the Weidner's, Grandy, Clarence, Milo & Brisa came for the day.
I decided to have some fun with our current situation (Covid-19, pandemic, corona, quarantine) and decorated using the theme of "Quaran-TEN!"  We posted a signs & banners with nasty, little germ figures.  I made "lysol"cans out of silly-string and even the cupcakes (made by Jen Bates) had the theme in mind, too. Delilah even made special bracelets with quirky sayings on them. On the day that we celebrated we took the kids to miniature golf & let them all mine for fossils and gems.  That evening, for dinner, I made spaghetti & meatballs (the Twins fave).  It wasn't our normal, huge birthday-bash buuuut I think Jett & Delilah had fun celebrating their decade!

On their actual birthday. 9-30, we celebrated at home with a cinnamon roll, breakfast make-your-own pizzas for dinner, a cookie cake for dessert and opening their gifts.  This was after school, of course, where their classmates left them messages on their SeeSaw app sending birthday wishes.
And, as usual... a few extras from the month:
