In April things pretty much stayed the same... stayed home; stayed safe; kept on-line learning; kept busy; loved our family time.
I added a few "Covid decorations" to our home... A front door hanger suggesting folks "Stay Home"; the 3-tiered tray on the kitchen island with little tokens of our time in quarantine... like, alcohol & chocolate; and some fresh, new color on the pool shed.
The teachers did a phenomenal job at offering creative ways to keep the children engaged and having fun all the while, still learning.
At home, we did a lot more of the same as well... Spring cleaning, baking, cooking, putting together puzzles, virtual play-dates (even virtual wine-dates for me), walks in the neighborhood, lots of swimming, bike rides... pretty much anything to try and beat the boredom-blues. We even started attending church on-line, on Sunday mornings.Right before Easter we decided to play Easter bunny around our neighborhhod and deliver plastic eggs, with treats inside, to other children that we knew. Jett & Delilah had a blast doing it & I pray that it brought out a few extra smiles.
Easter was a little different this year. Due to the virus we didn't have family over but we had a wonderful day, just us. We dyed hard boiled eggs; hid eggs with treats in them (some also had slips of paper in them with excercises to do); the Twins searched for their baskets; & we shared a phenomenol meal and movie together. The Easter Bunny even drove by for a visit & handed out eggs with dollar bills in them!
Since birthday parties were frowned upon, due to too many people gathering, drive-by birthday parades became THE thing to do. They showed our friends & loved ones that we were thinking of them & celebrating their special day despite the distance. Clarence, Milo & Brisa even came by for Rich's b-day.For Rich's birthday we decorated the mailbox & fireplace, ordered his favorite meal of chicken parm & spaghetti with meatballs & spent a special day swimming & celebrating our big guy!
A friend of ours, Scott Thomas, owns a really neat business called Smithson Valley Mining Company. It's a mobile truck where kids can sift for special gems & fossils. We met him at a near by gas station and Jett & Delilah had a woderful time uncovering their treasures.
To make sure these crazy time were never forgotten we decided to have Official Quarantine Photos taken. I was still working a lot, Rich was busier than ever at his station & Jett & Delilah loved spending their time reading & in the pool. I think these pictures capture these months very well.
Some final photos of April that I wouldn't want to miss...
