October - Uniforms & Costumes

After coming home from a fantastic camping trip celebrating Jett & Delilah's birthday, it was time to get ready for Fall & Halloween.  Of course, I did the usual decorations outside and around the house.

Jett & Delilah were both in baseball/softball for the Fall Ball Season.  We thoroughly enjoy watching them learn not just the sport but sportsmanship; working with a Team; & how to win & lose gracefully... all very important lessons, in my book.
Jett & Delilah decided to try another type of Team this year... they both joined the Chess Team, at ASES.  Neither have been playing Chess that long BUT they sure picked it up quickly, enjoy the tournaments with their friends and classmates & Rich and I love watching them grow.
Even in all of the madness of baseball & softball practices, games, school, guitar lessons & chess tournaments, we still found the time for a few playdates & down time with friends & family.  Jett had a playdate & sleepover with his friend Kolby.  Delilah had playdates with Brisa.  And I was even able to sneak away for an adult beverage or two, on occasion.
There's nothing quite like Pumpkin patches to help kick off the Fall & Halloween season.  We went twice, once me & the kiddos met up with Sylvia & Henley and another time, it was just me, Rich, Clarence & Milo.  Spring Creek Gardens, right down the street, has the perfect patio complete with firepits and wine, to relax & unwind.
Our darling neighbors across the street, Shelby & Savanah Leonard, play Volleyball at Smithson Valley High School.  We thought it might be fun to go and watch them do their thing on the court.  We met up with the Carter's and other friends & were blown away at just how talented these gals really are!

This year, for the first time, I sponsored the Smithson Valley FFA.  In return we received an amazing tasting brisket and my name & logo on their banner.
Delilah, once again, entered into the Storybook pumpkin competition at school.  She chose one of our very favorite books that we've been reading to them since they were babies... "Mommy Was Your Tummy Big".  It's a beautiful story that talks a little about the frustration & heartache of Infertility & the ultimate choice to use donor eggs to get pregnant.  We were so proud of her and her hard work paid off!  She won 2nd place!

In October we are always happy to celebrate one of our most favorite people... Aunt Milagros.  We spent a relaxing evening at Costa Pacifica, eating dinner, listening to a live band & singing her Happy Birthday!
October just wouldn't be the same if we didn't do a little pumpkin carving.  We invited our sweet neighbors, Jaston & Hadley Bivens, over to join in the fun.
Next came storybook character day at school.  Delilah dressed up as a deer from the book Bambi & Jett rocked a cardboard face that I made to look like the kiddo from the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  They looked so cute & had fun at school!
Jen & Shane Bates certainly know how to throw a party!!!  They hosted a Halloween costume party, adults only, and they went aaaalllll out!  The decorations, food & drinks were out of this world!  Rich & I dressed up as "The Walk of Shame & a One Nightstand".  Rich's costume wasn't all that comfortable but definitely provided a ton of laughs.
Halloween night is always sooo much fun in our neighborhood!  And Rich was even off this year, so we dressed up, as a family, as Little Red Ridinghood, the wolf, the woodsman, and Rich starred as the Grandma!!!  We hopped on the back of the Williams trailer and drove around our community, letting the little ones trick or treat all night long!

Finally, several photos from October that I wanted to include for their book:
