What a way to start a brand new month... with a gorgeous rainbow over Spring Branch.
Before school started we had another playdate with our ol' Mother's Day Out friends. Sylvia invited everyone over for some lunch, laughs & splashes!
Sadly, we went on our last camping trip of the Summer, to the Galveston area. We had a fantastic time in the lazy river, swimming, putt-putt golf and even exploring Downtown Galveston. It was CRAZY hot & humid down there but we STILL weren't ready to head home to prepare for school. As much as we didn't want Summer to end, Jett & Delilah were very excited about the thought of going back to in-person school. So, we headed home from the coast & did a little back-to-school shopping. While we got the necessicities, we also had a little fun... from shirts that looked like they took a time machine back from the 80's to MORE pool floats.
It was also time to decorate my 3 tier tray with some fun back to school items.
A little walk down to the creek. Delilah always has a book in her face & Jett is always on the lookout for a special discovery.Next up, before school started, was Meet-The-Teacher Night at Arlon Seay ES. We took that opportunity to take their teachers a little gift to let them know just how excited the Twins were about the new & upcoming year. One last weekend of backyard fun and a sleep over with cousin Brisa. The Sunday before schools starts can only mean one thing... Sundaes on Sunday!! For dinner we stock up on all of the fixings for a stupendous icecream sundae & dig in!! Pretty sure Jett & Delilah LOVE this little tradition!Truth be told, I was having a little bit of trouble with the fact the my babies were headed back to school. While them staying home for one complete school year wasn't ideal, I had grown accustomed to having them near by. Hearing them talk, laugh, learn & giggle throughout our days. When I needed a hug, I just walked into the gameroom. So, I bought them (& myself) a little, special gift to wear back to school. Delilah's was a tiny, silver heart & Jett's was a colorful, braided friendship-style bracelet. Each came with a little poem about how that any time they felt alone or scared, they could feel those items & know that Mommy was thinking of them. I tugged at mine allllllll day. Actually, probably all week!Well, it was time. Time to pack them up and head them off to school for their 5th grade year at ASES. I drew their yearly boards for photos; we picked out just the right outfits; baked their favorite cinnamon rolls & sausage patties; and Delilah even opted to curl her hair. Snap, Snap, a few pictures later & they were gone. And Mommy met up with some girlfriends to have mimosa's to celebrate the new year. After a FANTASTIC & more importantly smooth first week, we met up with some friends & neighbors for shaved ice at Arctic Jacks. I was soooo proud of Jett & Delilah for stepping right up & starting a new year without waivering one bit.At the end of the month, we attenmpted to meet up with our special friends, the Ruston's, at the New Braunfels Drive-In Theater, for a movie. But, the weather had other plans for us. So, instead, we all just hung out at our house, played, chatted & rehashed the first several days of the new school year! Here are just a few, randome pictures from the month of August:
